The Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) as an Executive Agency of Defra is the UK’s most diverse organisation supplying applied aquatic science services. Based in the UK but active worldwide, Cefas’s partners include UK and overseas governments, public and private sector organisations, research and educational organisations. The programme will cover aspects on marine licencing regulations, oil spill modelling, advice on potential impacts to fish in the marine environment from developments, sediment and water sampling for physical, biological and chemical characteristics, habitat mapping, aerial surveillance of coastline, environmental data collection possibilities, vessel surveys, coastal erosion/flood defences and food safety with respect to shellfisheries.
